| But this was a delicious cranberry quiche and cranberry wild rice dish I made for Christmas! |
Photos... with the new DSLR's (even paper photos)...
...how on earth are people organizing theirs nowadays?
My computer is filled with photos and I never know where to put them until I sort them (which rarely happens)...
...I spend hours trying to find the picture I need because I've got folders full of either dates, topics, subject matter, used, not used, etc.!
I back them up on an external hard drive... sometimes... then I have to figure out which one it's on!
It's a complete mess....
How are you all handling your photos?
BTW, this quiche recipe I have used for several years, it is the quickest quiche you can ever make and turns out perfect every time... no pastry to make you just throw everything together! Yum!
Happy life!

I hear ya ! I have an external hard drive for my photos as well as a internal one I also use the program Lightroom it catalogs all my photos and I can arrange them under what ever I want and this program also lets me adjust my photos if I want to ! I have about 45 thousand photos and adding every day so I am really pleased with Lightroom . Picture looks good enough to eat YUMMY ! Hope you get your photos sorted out ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteForty-five thousand photo’s Country Gal . . . forty-five thousand? Boggles the mind. Ah, Heather . . . last month I started to put our computer pictures into albums with names and dates. My computer kept honking at me. I mean a picture of a chair is a chair, right? How many times can I think of a different name for a chair. Then when the pictures were transferred to, lord knows to what separate place on the hard drive; off the hard drive (?), the dates didn’t transfer. They ALL had some weird date. How do you tell the same Christmas tree from different angles for umpteen different years? I did notice the train track kept getting smaller. The pictures are kinda sorta in folders by kinda sorta dates. No worries. I did like looking at them though. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteWhere is this delicious and easy quiche recipe? Your photo made me hungry. :-)
ReplyDeleteMy photos are all downloaded from camera into folders by day, then I edit, delete, save and for web-readiness they are in a folder by year, then folders for subjects, food, flowers, skies, etc., then day, month and title. It works for me. 01-10-quiche.jpg would go into the food folder.
Did you get that? I'm not always good at explaining stuff.
I'm sure there are all sorts of ways to categorize photos, we just have to find the way that works best for us.

I have as many as Country girl...I am a photo hoarder, lol... no really I just take a lot of photos. External hard drives, backed up once a week, snort..well I try.
ReplyDeleteEverything is downloaded into LightRoom, and I know it's not "pro" to do it this way, but I can find anything I want with Picasa....I still love it. It's a great free program that is under appreciated.
I use Month, year, and subject for the files...Picasa organized them that way also, I have images on my computer from 2008 until now...so it's a real easy system to follow.
When I am searching for a photo, I just have to remember what time of year I would have taken it, and then look in the archives near that month....it's really fast.
I am looking at the cranberry wild rice, that has caught my imagination...sounds, and looks delish.

Mine are all in my Microsoft Photo Gallery. Mainly because I don't know what else to do at this point. It is a problem with the digital photos, I don't tend to discard the bad or defective ones as I should. That will be a project one day.

I certainly can vouch for the goodness of your wonderful quiche.I always enjoyed it.

Hi Heather!!!!
ReplyDeleteI miss talking to you, but that's what happens when you start actually earning your keep, and since I do earn now, I have little time for the computer (poo), I wish there were about 36 hours in every day instead of 24! That would do me just fine!
I usually organize my photos by date and I put them on www.snapfish.com, that way if I ever lose anything or if anything were to get deleted or if my computer were to crash, I always have free storage there, I started using it back in 2005. It's never failed me. I don't print out all of my photos, but I'm going to start little by little, as I want to do special albums for the kids this Christmas, I want them all to have photos from their past, but I'm not going to want to let go of some of them, some of them will be mine mine mine forever!!! :)
Drop me a line if you have time! I'd love to know how you are!
Have a great week Heather!

The post may not have anything to do with food, but the meal in the photo looks delicious.
ReplyDeletePhoto organization . . . . my word would be haphazard . . . I do use dates, key word and it helps, another key word thought would be,
ReplyDelete"it is a bit of a mess!"
I would love the quiche recipe, if you share . . .
Oh Heather! I just scrolled down (caught by the fabulous rice and quiche photo!!!) and OH YEAH I hear you. For ages I kept hoping that my computer would be intuitive to my desires for my photo organization. Hmmm. Not so much. Then I spent a few years with Lightroom on my computer, but not using it at all well. Then last year, when for some crazy reason I decided to upgrade from Lightroom 2 to LR4 (when I wasn't even using LR2 correctly) I happened on a live internet workshop on LR4 with Laura Shoe. She is now my own personal goddess! She made everything clear and doable and fun. I mean it! It took time (and flop-sweat) to reorganize (actually, organize) my images, but it's worth it. I promise I'm not shilling for her. I'm just grateful. OK, I've gone on long enough. dates and keywords and LR4
ReplyDeleteHahaha... Emily, that is too funny... I really have to laugh because I have used both, dates and keywords and yet I am still in a bungle... I even have a folder called rotten photos... isn't that silly... I think it was to drop in photos that I would want to revisit before I culled them.... but never got around to it!
DeleteCheers~
